Olympia Resources

Following its incorporation in 1997, Olympia began evaluating the potential of the Harts Range alluvial deposits in the Northern Territory as the basis for an industrial garnet mining operation.

Exploration and development work has been proceeding on the Harts Range project to the stage that mining is planned to commence in 2008.

Consistent with its medium-term goal of becoming a diversified supplier of industrial minerals, Olympia has also focused on obtaining interests in ilmenite and zircon resources, given the strong long-term growth prospects of these commodities.

The Company assessed a number of potential Heavy Mineral Sands projects during the latter part of 2000 in parallel with its activities at Harts Range. This work resulted in the identification and acquisition of several areas in the south west of Western Australia which are located close to major existing mineral sands operations. The tenements cover areas of known mineral resource and are located close to the world-class Capel and Yoganup deposits, currently being mined by Iluka Resources and Cable Sands, respectively.
